Windsor, UK (01 December 2017) – MyPlus received ‘Highly Commended’ recognition for the Best Diversity Resource Award at the Excellence in Diversity Awards in Manchester last night. The event was one of the UK’s most anticipated diversity awards celebrations and took place at The Midland Hotel in Manchester on Thursday, November 30.
The awards celebrate those who go above and beyond the call of duty to improve the lives of others in their communities and workplaces around them. MyPlus were able to shine a light on the work they are doing to provide progressive employers and students with disabilities with the confidence, insight and support they need to realise new possibilities.
“It is such an honour to be recognised for the tireless work we do to raise awareness of the large pool of talented disabled individuals and the skills that they bring to the workplace,” said Helen Cooke, Founder and Director of MyPlus.
The Best Diversity Resource Award recognises an organisation which shows outstanding dedication to supplying diversity related resources such as jobsites, training programmes, e-learning and diversity marks. MyPlus was proud to be listed in this category alongside the partnership of Mott MacDonald, InterEngineering and Royal Academy of Engineering who won the award based on their collaboration to raise the visibility of LGBT role models in the engineering sector.
MyPlus was founded by Helen Cooke in 2005. As a wheelchair user, Helen used her knowledge gained from working in HR as well as personal experience with a disability to form the foundation of her business. Its purpose is to help employers become more progressive in their approach to hiring and retaining disabled talent through their resources, MyPlus Consulting and the MyPlus Recruiters’ Club. It also helps disabled students and recent graduates gain the confidence, insight and support they need to find meaningful employment through the MyPlus Students’ Club. By demonstrating the value of inclusion in the workplace, MyPlus is helping to expel the fears that disabled individuals may feel when applying for jobs while showcasing the skills that disabled individuals can offer an organisation.
